June Track Maintenance

Save up some extra text messages for Metro alerts in June. A whole lotta track maintenance going on. Let's hope this maintenance prevents Metro from having its normal summertime blues. We'll take weekend suck over rush hour suck any time.

June 5-7

The Red and Orange lines will potentially suck this weekend. Red between New York Avenue-Florida Avenue-Gallaudet U and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood Metrorail and Orange Stadium-Armory and Cheverly Metrorail

June 12-4
The Red and Blue lines will potentially suck this weekend. Red Line between Van Ness-UDC and Dupont Circle, Blue between the Van Dorn Street and Braddock Road

June 19-21
The Orange and Blue lines will potentially suck this weekend, Orange between East Falls Church and West Falls Church-VT/UVA and Blue between Van Dorn Street and Braddock Road

June 26-28
A regular suckfest.
Red between Van Ness-UDC and Dupont Circle; Red between Silver Spring and Forest Glen; Blue and Orange between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory; Green between Fort Totten and Prince George’s Plaza and Green between Prince George’s Plaza and College Park-U of Md.

Deets here.

Maybe I wouldn't have stopped by Twitter device updates from WMATA if they weren't so unbelievably useless. I heard the auto-announcement in the station (Court House, 8:25am) at least twice AND got a call from a friend warning me about it before the text alert came. New motto of WMATA should be as follows:

"WMATA: We'll get you there late. Or, if you run, we might get you there just in time and very sweaty."

They should take the @wmata name to give them a little more room for actual information.

Ugh, I won't be descending into Woodley Park during those Van Ness/Dupont weekends. Bets on how long it takes for a tourist to be forced onto the tracks near the escalator, while every other part of the platform is empty?
